What do you get when you cross Dante’s epic poem, The Divine Comedy, with the gameplay of the God of War series; you get EA’s upcoming title, Dante’s Inferno.

Based off the epic poem, Dante must travel through the nine circles of hell to retrieve his love Beatrice from the clutches of Satan himself.

"Dude, shes totally checking you out, just go talk to her!"

Bayonetta is a new third person action game brought to you guys from Sega. One plays as a witch, with guns on the heels of her stilettos as she kills waves after waves of angels to reap their halo’s. The game isn’t slated to release until next year, but guess who got early access to play the demo from Sega?

Yours truly.

brutal

Since Tim Schafer’s masterpiece, Psychonauts, Double Fine began working on a new project.  As I obsessively read the previews, I was excited about all the aspects of the game. Jack Black voicing the main character? Awesome. A world designed after an entire genre of music? Sweet. An RTS aspect? Ummmm…

So does Brutal Legend deserve a spot in the Schafer hall of fame? Or does it brutally disappoint? Hit the jump to find out.

Yesterday, Ubisoft, along with their subsidiary Hybride Technologies, released the first in what will be a three part live-action video series set in the world of Assassin’s Creed II.

Dubbed Assassin’s Creed: Lineage, the short films will focus on Giovanni Auditore — an assassin, and the father of the main character of Assassin’s Creed II — and his quest to uncover the secrets behind the murder of the Duke of Milan.

Along the way, there will apparently be a lot of close-up shots of people strapping on various leather accouterments and slow-motion blood splatter, a la 300, another of Hybride’s projects.

It also looks pretty good. So you should watch it, if you’ve got 15 minutes to spare. (And we all know you do.)

LostPlanet2_psd_jpgcopyToday, Capcom announced that Xbox LIVE subscribers will be able to sample the sweet, sweet taste of giant salamander meat in the Lost Planet 2 co-op demo, set to release next Wednesday.

Xbox LIVE Gold members will be able to download the demo on the 19th, while Silver subscribers will have to wait another whole week to hop in on the multiplayer goodness.

The demo is the same one showcased at this year’s E3 and Comic-con, and features a whole slew of weapons and mech suits for up to 4 players to stomp around in. It focuses on an epic battle with an enormous salamander, in which players can slice of limbs or even be swallowed whole, Pinocchio-style.

The final release date for Lost Planet 2 is yet to be announced.

Finally, an app as awesome as iFart!

In all seriousness, I’m loving Taito’s recent reinventions of the classic Space Invaders franchise. Space Invaders Extreme is one of the most addictive shooters to come out in a long while, and is a great buy on the DS, XBLA, and PSN.

Space Invaders Infinity Gene is the latest evolution of the shoot ’em up (shmup). Released for the iPhone and iTouch, the game borrows the heavy techno-vibe utilized in Extreme. However, while Infinity Gene may start out on familiar territory, it soon ventures into a more RPG-like experience.

The game adds new graphics, abilities, levels, and even gameplay as players progress upon an “evolutionary tree.”

However, arguably the most intriguing feature of the game is its ability generate levels from songs stored your respective Apple product.

Space Invaders Infinity Gene is available now for only $5, the perfect recession price.

One lucky bastard got to take this beauty home with them today. The one-shot Bayonetta Xbox 360 was produced by Platinum Games, who held a special event with Sega. There, players got some play time with the frighteningly arousing long-legged seductress. To get the first come first serve tickets to this event, attendees had two options:

dress up as a Sega character and attend a Sega blog cosplay event,

or

Dress up as Bayonetta, and get one step closer to that Suicide Girls gig you’re inevitably destined for.

Whether you’ll admit it or not, you lust for Brutal Legend. Your very being, regardless of music preference absolutely needs to play Tim Schafer’s metal masterpiece. No matter who you are, seeing Eddie Riggs slice through demons with his battle axe gives you the same euphoriatic hard-on that Guns and Roses fans get when they’re around beaten wives and trailer park meth labs.

It’s VH1 Classic heaven.

Double Fine has released a 22-minute walkthrough video of Brutal Legend, featuring commentary from Schafer and two other designers. Heavily featured is the driving experience of “The Deuce,” Eddie’s hot rod that is constructed from the body of the “Fire Beast.” From the looks of things, a large amount of the game will be driving in this thing. Fortunately, you’ll able to customize “The Deuce” with increasingly deadly and METAL equipment. Also featured is the game’s squad combat. While not overly complex, the system looks intuitive enough to keep things interesting.

This guy just made kill no. 4,345,023.

This guy just made kill no. 4,345,023.

Battlefield 1943, released this Wednesday on the Xbox 360 and Thursday on the PS3, is off to a good start on its Coral Sea Challenge, which promises a 4th map for players once they reach 43 million community kills.

According to the counter on the official website, the Xbox community has reached 10,986,498 with the Playstation 3 trailing slightly behind at 6,541,270.

The game saw some problems on the Xbox 360 due to lack of server space, according to a forum post by Gordon Van Dyke, a Producer for Battlefield 1943.

“We have reached server capacity,” Van Dyke said,”but the bad news about this now some people can’t join unless someone leaves. But don’t worry, we are adding more servers ASAP to Xbox and in preparation PS3 that should start going up ASAP with priority on Xbox 360.”

This was a game that I had been looking forward to playing, and even plugged a Copy+Paste event on our forums, but when I finally downloaded it two nights ago, I was unable to play due to server problems.

I was able to play last night, and it worked fine. Co-editor Santiago Azpurua-Borras and I had an awesome time zooming around in jeeps, blowing up buildings, and causing general havoc. The best feature of this game: you can blow up trees. TREES.

For those who haven’t downloaded it yet, don’t worry, the community looks like they’ll be reaching the 43 million mark pretty soon, so you might not have to do any work and still reap all the rewards.

And if you have, check out the thread on our forums and join in on the fun.
